Note from Jody...Over the years people have asked me what tools I employ so I've taken a little time to share some of those here: For website construction I've come to use and like very much the Dreamweaver program from Macromedia. It's the best tool for the job in my opinion. It costs a little more but it's worth it. If you are more of a beginner, I suggest using Site BuildIt! You'll find this to be a very easy solution to get you on the right path quickly. And to get a fast start designing your website, you may want to purchase a template. This can save alot of time and the prices are reasonable if you use a source such as Template Monster. I've tried many services to host my websites. The best value by far is Third Sphere Hosting . They offer lots of email accounts, auto responders, plenty or room, cgi capability, mysql databases and quite a bit more! To record the audio you may have heard on the main page you can use Audio Generator. It's a new tool but after learning about it, the decision to employ it was an easy one. Once you get your website under way, you will want a way to track your advertising to make sure it's working. The best tool that you can buy without paying a fee month after month is AdtrackResponderPRO .You install it right on your own website. If you prefer to have someone else manage your autoresponder/ad tracking system, look at Assoc-trak. You don't have to worry about things like your emails not getting out. It costs a little more, but it's the very best tracking solution currently available. You'll find very quickly that manually handling your email takes alot of time. That's why using a program to automatically deposit email addresses in a database is so helpful. Here again, there are web and non-web based solutions to choose from. The best web-based solution is MyEmail Manager. The best non-web based solution is Mailloop. You will only have to pay one time to buy the program rather than pay a monthly subscription. From time to time I'm asked, "what do you use for your website?" The question may pertain to one tool or another depending on the individual's current area of need. At any rate, I decided to take a little time to share some of this information here. I've spent many hours researching what is needed to create a successful website and one thing I found is that you can spend alot of money very quickly. So I would suggest starting with the necessities and moving up from there. How do you handle getting paid once you've done all the other things? You could open a traditional merchant account using a service like Authorizenet. This would be the right choice for most large companies. For those of use who are not so big, the cost of such a service would be more than necessary. I recommend QuickPayPro for most websites. Their program uses your existing PayPal account to automatically transfer your money to you when a sale occurs! They have many great features such as ad tracking, the ability to set up your own affiliate program, autoresponders, a full email communication system to your customers and more. Before all of this, the best place to invest first is knowledge. That's the best thing to help you from making the wrong decisions. I've read a lot and the following are what I would recommend as the very best. It's a big deal learning what to do and what not to do concerning emailing your contacts/customers. Spam is a big no-no. There are many mistakes you will be sure to make without proper instruction. And you can actually learn how to rapidly build your own hyper-responsive opt-in e-mail list. The best resource to learn everything you need to is Email Secrets. There's a website out there called Secrets to Their Success. They do actual case studies of real people that have very successful websites businesses. They are not big companies but individuals like you and me. If you are interested in learning the right way to sell other people's stuff on your website check out the Super Affiliate Handbook. It's an awesome resource for stepping you through selling other people's products. The Insider Secrets to Marketing Your Business on the Internet is the most complete training package for operating an internet business you'll find. The author of this site, Corey Rudl gets over 6 million visitors to his web sites yearly and does over 6.6 million dollars in sales online each year. This guy knows what he's doing and his training material is better than anything currently available. Two other very good individuals I want to highly recommend. First is Jim Daniels. He has been a personal help to me and has always responded to every email I've sent him. Jim offers a soft cover book that should be required reading for everyone wanting to learn how to start their own web business. The second one is Shari Thomas. She helped start the Affiliate Showcase business and has now gone on to do one on one mentoring with people wanting to start a successful internet business! Once you are all set, you'll need some good targeted traffic to your website. I've never been a big fan of start networks or traffic exchange programs. But I'm glad I tried one called TrafficSwarm. It quickly developed into a top traffic source and has remained near the top for some time now. There are lots of traffic networks to choose from on the web, and the few I had tried never impressed me. But this one now delivers hundreds of highly targeted visitors a day to my sites. I now have a PRO account and at just thirty bucks a month it has been a self-propelled traffic (and income) generator. I do nothing. It sends traffic. I recommend it to any webmaster on a tight budget. And of course, I have put many of the tools to work that I provide for you here.
